“I arrived at Savasana a broken man. Today, I walk out a completely different person.

I came to Savasana with a severe drug addiction. I was using 60–80 mL of GHB and 5 grams of ice every day. I was in a complete mess and had lost control of my life.

Before coming to Savasana, I had already been through three rehabs. I was literally jumping fences and climbing out of windows to escape. None of those places seemed willing to deal with the real problem; they just provided a band-aid solution.

I arrived at Savasana a broken man. I didn’t know what to expect, and honestly, I didn’t know if anything could really change.

Today, I walk out a completely different person.

I’ve learned life skills I never thought I was capable of learning. More importantly, I’ve learned to understand myself, my emotions and the reasons behind my addiction.

The team at Savasana, Shahir, Renee, the clinical team and all the support staff, genuinely cared about me. I never felt like just another client. They were able to support everyone in the program while still giving each of us individual care, attention and understanding.

Shahir has also worked with me and my wife to help rebuild our marriage. He’s continued to work with my whole family, helping us heal together rather than just focusing on me as the person with the addiction.

The biggest realisation for me was understanding that, in the end, it wasn’t really about the drugs.

I was using drugs because I needed to escape. I was escaping from feelings, trauma and anger instead of learning how to face and process them.

Shahir and the team helped me understand that.

We’ve worked through my trauma and anger, and I’ve learned that I don’t have to run away or escape anymore. I have more patience, more understanding and a completely different relationship with my family.

Savasana is the only facility where I stayed for the full program and actually completed it.

That’s because this wasn’t a band-aid fix. They helped me address the person underneath the addiction and gave me the tools to build a different life.

For the first time, I feel like I’m walking away with more than just sobriety.

I’m walking away with a life.

I highly recommend Savasana to anyone who is struggling and needs the kind of help I needed.
