“We were broken. Savasana helped us put the pieces back together. The team truly lives their promise — you can come as you are, and be fully seen.”

—S.S.

In early 2025, our family experienced the most terrifying and saddest day of our lives. My husband’s drinking had escalated to a point that left us dealing with an unimaginable situation.

Finding Savasana in the days that followed felt like nothing short of a miracle. From the very first conversation with Shahir, I knew this was the place for my husband to heal, recover, and rediscover both himself and his purpose.

Shahir immediately put me at ease and listened with care as I shared the extent of the turmoil we were facing. He explained the approach at Savasana — best summed up as no BS, wrapped in kindness and empathy.

His genuine care for my husband and our family was evident from the beginning. He personally visited my husband in hospital before his admission and patiently answered the myriad of questions I inevitably had.

On the day of admission, Shahir greeted us with warmth and compassion, making us both feel safe — even despite my tardiness, which he soon became very accustomed to!

The family sessions with Shahir gave me the chance to be part of my husband’s journey, and that support has continued well beyond his time at Savasana.

Shahir has created an environment where people can truly do the work. He and the incredible team at Savasana understand that addiction is not the problem to be solved — it’s the signal. They encouraged my husband to go deep within, to reclaim every part of himself, and to rebuild as the man he wants to be.

Watching him transform so that he could finally show up — for himself and for our family — has been the most rewarding experience. The guidance, care, and expertise from everyone at Savasana has been, quite simply, 10/10.

It’s rare to find an organisation that lives so fully by its promise. At Savasana, you really can come as you are — and it truly feels like a home away from home.

Even after my husband’s stay, we’ve continued to feel supported. With their guidance, we’ve navigated some of the most difficult days post-treatment. I still look forward to our visits — and to the chats with Shahir in between. I know that if I ever need to, I can call him. That kind of generosity and commitment is rare — it’s the mark of someone doing their life’s true work.

We’ll be forever grateful to Shahir and the wonderful team at Savasana for the huge part they’ve played in our family’s recovery — not just from that terrible night, but from all the years that came before it.

Savasana will always hold a special place in our hearts.

—S.S. (& C.S), 2025
